WeatherCube

What if you could take the entire concept behind the fun childhood fortune teller origami and make it into an app that “predicts” the weather? Well, that’s exactly what the makers behind WeatherCube created for us. It is probably the most fun I have ever had with a weather app.

  • nice, clean interface
  • fantastic combination of gestures
  • nothing else like it in the app store

// well It’s been a while hasn’t it?….//

Let’s just say I was um conducting research for some new awesome apps to post. Yeah that sounds about right.

Grades 2

Second semester is almost here for most, and trust me if you don’t want your grades to resemble last semesters you need this app. Grades 2 helps keep track of your graded assignments and even calculates your GPA. It works best if you enter in your syllabus items before you lose it. Then as you start to receive your grades enter them in the app so you always know what you have in each class. Grades 2 also lets you know what grades you need to make on future assignments to hit your target grade. Stay in the know this semester and download Grades 2!

Highway Rider
If you find yourself still having some extra time to kill after my Icon Pop Quiz review, (I doubt it) then how about downloading Highway Rider. It has a very simple concept, just ride! Tilt your device to zoom past cars and 18 wheelers. Earn points by completing “close call” stunts and maneuvers. Just don’t try this at home!

Google, you fucking ripped off the iPhone, wholesale ripped us off. Grand theft. I will spend my last dying breath if I need to, and I will spend every penny of Apple’s $40 billion in the bank, to right this wrong … I’m going to destroy Android, because it’s a stolen product. I’m willing to go thermonuclear war on this. They are scared to death, because they know they are guilty. Outside of Search, Google’s products - Android, Google Docs - are shit.

Band of the Day

Don’t sleep on this app it truly is as great as it sounds. If you love discovering new music, but don’t have time to search through iTunes or blog sites this app does all the work for you. It’s set up like a calendar and each day you receive a new featured artist. Many of the artist featured are new and up and coming, but I found many new favorites via this app. Some months are hit or miss, but you can always backtrack to visit an old favorite. It also provides full length songs and previews, so you can really listen to some of their best stuff before deciding to purchase some of their songs. This isn’t recommended for hip hop or serious country fans, considering the name and  all, it’s pretty much just bands. Band of the Day is still a great app to have on your device either way, and its FREE!

  • looks great on iPhone and even better on the iPad
  • New music everyday
  • Feature articles done on every artist
  • other music suggestions
  • Band’s Videos, Twitter, Facebook
  • In app song purchases available

Shopkick

Apparently, there’s this app that gives you points (kicks) for just shopping. If you’re like me you’re thinking what’s the catch right? Well you can earn kicks for just walking into certain stores, scanning specific items or making purchases. Each of these acts gets you a certain amount of kicks, and these kicks add up to get you a reward. I’m personally saving up my kicks for a Target gift card. Who doesn’t love Target?! There’s not much else to it, I recommend this to all of you fellow shopaholics out there. Why not get rewarded for your addiction?

IconPopQuiz

This game has been circling around for a bit, so i decided to check it out. I found myself still playing at 3am! Icon Pop Quiz is definitely one of those highly addictive games. You would be surprised at how many things you recognize about our pop culture icons. Long story short it’s a really fun, addictive game that seems to be pretty popular these days.

  • great time killer
  • simple yet fun concept
  • choose from various categories

Any.Do

Time and time again I go in the app store and download what I think is the perfect productivity app to destroy my inner procrastinator. Each time I find myself never actually using the app to its full potential, if at all. That’s why I like Any.Do. It looks great and is very easy to use. I can type or use voice command to enter in my task for the day to help me stay on track. One great feature is that every morning at the same time Any.Do reminds me to plan my day, so I never forget about the app being on my phone.

  • day planner reminders
  • notifications
  • easy to use
  • invite friends

Chipotle

Keep scrolling if you’re one of those “Moes is better than Chipotle” people. This review isn’t meant for you, but for all of you sane red blooded Americans out there with some common sense and good taste this is a must have! Not only do they know how to make a mean burrito, but Chipotle can put together a pretty decent app as well. The best part about this app is the VIP treatment you get when utilizing its service. Order (and/or pay) on the app and then walk right in passing all of those peasants (I mean uh other customers) in line and pick up your food with no wait or hassle. Really it’s that easy!

  • search nearby locations
  • save payment information *optional

  • pay in store or on app

Songza

I know right yet another music streaming app?! Wrong! Songza isn’t your average Pandora wannabe it actually has pre made playlist to fit your lifestyle. It takes into consideration the time of day and what most people happen to be doing around that time, and creates the perfect playlist for such. Unwinding from a days work, getting ready to go out for the night, riding down the highway, hosting a party, Songza has a playlist for that! Those are just a few of the activities listed, and if none of those seem to quite fit, you’re more than welcome to search for your fit. Feeling moody? Songza even has a list of moods to choose from and creates the right playlist for that as well.

  • activity based playlist
  • mood based playlist
  • likes/dislikes help suggest better songs
  • minimal ads
  • can be a bit difficult to navigate at first

Dimensions

If you’re bored sitting there scrolling or blogging yearning for something new and different, why not try entering a new Dimension? Sound strange? Good, that’s exactly the effect this new awesome game (or uh…experience) gives you. Enter a whole new world of stimulating visuals and sound. You can play in one sitting or lock your phone and receive notifications when it’s time for you to get back in the game for battle! I decided not to post any other screen shots of this one because it’s definitely an app you must experience for yourself. Don’t forget your Apple headphones! Good luck, Dimensionauts!
